Benefits of Hydration
Source: Public Domain DehydrationDehydration occurs when the body experiences fluid and electrolyte loss. It affects each of the bodily processes outlined above, and can even lead to death in extreme situations. Therefore, it is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of early dehydration, and learn to effectively rehydrate.
Hydration TipsAdd produce to your water, such as lemon, cucumber, strawberries, and mint, to enhance the flavor and make it more enjoyable. Choose refreshing snacks with high water content. Up to 20% of our fluid intake comes from the food that we eat. This includes cucumbers, peppers, watermelon, strawberries, and tomatoes. Try to stay clear of sugar-sweetened beverages. These drinks can be incorporated occasionally into a balanced diet, however, they are not ideal when drinking to hydrate. Sources:
