By: Jillian Pancio, Student NutritionistIf any of you are like me, a pint of Ben and Jerry’s can be dangerous. Before you know it a few bites can turn into eating more than half of the pint- and in some cases the whole thing! So what if I told you, there was a way to satisfy your sweet tooth craving without all of the calories? A new brand of ice cream called Halo Top hit stores recently and has been flying off the shelves. What’s so great about this new ice cream? Well, Halo Top is known to be all natural, which means there are no artificial sweeteners, no synthetic growth hormones and no corn syrup.
Compared to other “diet” ice cream desserts, Halo Top is known to be creamy and smooth. On top of the delicious taste and astonishingly perfect texture, Halo Top has around six grams of protein per serving and 20% of your daily fiber intake. An entire pint of Halo Top has between 240 and 280 calories (depending on flavor) while a pint of vanilla Haagen Dazs or Ben and Jerry’s ice cream has 1000 calories per pint. So next time you have a late night craving for something sweet, perhaps during this upcoming finals week, try Halo Top ice cream and you may be pleasantly surprised.
