The beginning of Fall means cooler weather, warmer blankets, and taller boots. While you may not be thrilled about jackets and layers, you should get excited about the produce in season. There are tons of foods to choose from, and we want to highlight our top 4 favorites for this season. 1] APPLES
Apples are rich in phytochemicals, which may be associated with decreased risk of some chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Plus, they come in lots of flavors -- from sweet to tart to soft to crisp! They're the perfect snack or addition to any salad or dessert. 2] SWEET POTATOES Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamin A, which helps with immunity, bone health, and vision. Sweet potatoes can be boiled, sautéed, or baked depending on your preference, and they can be seasoned to be sweet or savory. 3] PUMPKIN Quite possibly the quintessential "fall food", pumpkins do more than just look cute. They're packed with Vitamin A and C, and 1 ounce of seeds has 9g protein. 4] PEARS Pears are sometimes overshadowed by other foods, but they shouldn't be! There are many different kinds, ranging from sweet to tart, and they're rich in fiber and low in calories. Whether or not you love the cold weather that's coming, we can all agree these foods are both nutritious and delicious. Happy Fall!
