By Sydney Green1. Dark Chocolate can be a very nutritious food that satisfies your sweet tooth. It's loaded with minerals and is an antioxidant. Some studies have found that it lowers blood pressure and blood flow while also improve brain functioning. 2. Avocados are great at lowering risks of heart disease because of the high prevalence of HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). Avocados also lower oxidative stress in the blood and have more potassium than bananas. This amazing fruit is loaded with fiber and helps to absorb more nutrients from other foods. 3. Anything is good in moderation, but EVERYONE loves pasta. Whole wheat pasta provides a great amount of dietary fiber along with supplying folate that can help with red blood cell development. Pasta promotes eye health by providing vitamin A and can reduce muscle spasms. 4. Eat your eggs even the yolks. Eggs promote heart healthiness. In the past eggs had a bad reputation for levels of cholesterol. However that has now changed. Eggs promote healthy hair and nails, keeping you hair silky and nails strong. 5. In the United States all white rice is enriched. This means that it is fortified with more nutrients than brown rice. As a side for a meal white rice can supply the body with iron, niacin, and thiamine all vitamins and nutrients beneficial for brain functioning. 6. Beef has had a bad wrap. People usually cut beef out in their diet in order to prevent heart disease. However, lean beef is a great source of protein and vitamin B12 which is a rich in meats. As you may know beef is also great source of iron, which is necessary for muscle functioning and carrying oxygen throughout the blood. 7. Nuts are high in unsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids (the good fats). Nuts also contain vitamin E which protects against toxins and fights against cataracts, eye disorders, neurological diseases, and diabetes. Most nuts are also calcium rich. 8.Similarly to nuts, peanut butter helps to protect against cataracts, eye disorders, etc but it also lowers cardiovascular risks. Peanut butter is rich in niacin, healthy fats, and potassium which gives the body some of the necessary nutrients for life and helps to prevent Alzheimer's.
